“Play to win, but enjoy the fun.” – David Ogilvy Quizathon-Seek your Geek was a quiz event conducted under the ACM student chapter and ITSA. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, this event was conducted on an online platform ‘myquiz.com’ on 21st August 2020.
Objective
A quiz is a form of game or mind sport, where people attempt to answer questions correctly. It is a game to test knowledge about a certain subject. Quizzes may be held on a variety of subjects. The aim was to organize a fun filled event which brings out the best competitive side in everyone.
Event Details
For this event we judged the participants based on various topics- aptitude, literature, history, politics, geography, sports, fashion and architecture, who am I?, art, marvel, guess the logo, technical, GK, and bollywood. We had a total of 35 participants, where the participants were not only from our college but other colleges too. We conducted a total of four rounds to find our Quizmaster. All the rounds were elimination rounds, where at each round, the level of difficulty was increased. In the first round, we divided the teams in a group of 3-12, 12 and 11 in group 1, group 2 and group 3 respectively. The questions were same for all groups. After the end of the first round, we shortlisted top 10 from each group. In the second round, we divided the shortlisted 30 students in a group of 2, with 15 participants in each group. For the second round, the participants had to go through harder questions than the first round. In this round, we shortlisted 7 participants from each group. Round 3 was a strenuous one for the contestants as the questions they had to face made it difficult for them to qualify for the final round. The 14 contestants were divided into groups of 7 for this round. From this we chose 6 finalists. In the final round, we had the best of the brainiacs, who had to fight with each other for their geekiness. The level of difficulty was the hardest for this round, but even then our geeks managed to surpass all the challenges. In this round, we finally got our two winners.
Conclusion
Quizathon was a team collaborated effort of all the students and teachers of ITSA and ACM Student Chapter of I 2 IT. All the students worked very hard and endlessly to conduct events at such a level. Also, with students all the teachers worked untiringly, helping and guiding the students at each and every step. Truly Quizathon 2020 was an example of great teamwork, unparalleled determination and a beautiful execution!
